My wife and I live in Willard NC. We were in the yard @ 9:40 pm tonight 1-19-2010 we saw the strangest thing in the sky. We were looking toward the west. I don't know how far away it was. It looked like a bowl, curved sides that went down to a flat bottom the top was the widest part (like a bowl) . It seemed to be 3 or so miles away but it could have been farther, it was gigantic. It's color was orange like a full moon when it is first coming up (dark orange) If it was lets say 1 mile away, it looked to be over a mile wide judging by the amount of sky it took up. Has anyone else seen anything like this? Another thing, the only part we saw that was lighted was the the sides up to the top, we could see the bottom but it was not lit. It faded away then it faded back into view. Then slowly floated down below the tree line. If anyone else saw this please let me know. Does anyone have any ideas?

You shouldn't cross-post (posting same message in multiple forums)

my guess is that Kirk and Spock hit another dimensional warp that sent them spiraling into the past.

joking aside, I have no idea, you should probably ask your neighbors before questioning people on a webforum.

I am sorry for all of the inconvenience I have caused. I did not mean to upset anyone. I was only looking for answers I live in a rural area. I don't have any close neighbors to ask. I was only trying to get information from someone. As far as cross posting. I had hard enough time posting it the first time, then I saw a place to post on what looked like a local posting place. I did not know where my other post was. I could not find it and I figured if I could not find it no one else would see it either, so I posted it again because this all seemed so extraordinary me. I was hoping someone would have an answer. I guess I should have waited for a few days to see what I would hear on the local news broadcast, and if I did not hear anything. I would know nothing was there to begin with. Again, please accept my apology, when I get home today I will try to figure out how to remove this annoying post and unsubscribe to this forum. Thanks for the criticism. Dink1

Are you suggesting that this was a military flare-up???

I'm not suggesting Leonard Nimoy was doing a fly-by.
I know it was not a flare. I figure it was something created by humans. I never saw anything like it. I would like to know what it was.
