If you haven't been following my posts, my family is probably moving to Greenville in the next few months, and we will be making our second trip down there from May 31-June 2 for a job interview for my dad(out last trip was May 4-6, just to see the area). My 16th birthday is May 27th, so we are going to celebrate it down there instead of up here, since with trying to sell our house and stuff things are pretty crazy. We went to Tripps last time and we really liked it, but we are looking for something more on the upscale side this time. We also are doing CPW the other night this time, it was reccomended to us by the HR person where he is applying, is it any good? Any suggestions would be great Last time we stayed at Best Western which was very nice, this time we are staying at Holiday Inn Express.
I recommend Dale's Indian Cuisine. Excellent rice and chicken tikka masala. Naan bread is very good, too. Not real upscale, but nice enough, if you are a Holiday Inn Express kind of guy!!
Will definitely check them out for lunch, but was hoping for something a little more upscale...
And is Holiday Inn Express bad lol? We didn't book the hotel this time, the job he is interviewing for made the reservation and stuff. It looked nice enough online...
Looking at Plum Tree Bistro now, menu seems delicious! Have you ever been there? No prices on the menu, so imagine it is pricey, which is fine, would just like to be warned haha.
I've been to all of those. I don't remember exactly, but think they're probably all about the same in price. It's certainly cheaper than fine dining in the Tri State Area! Once you move here, there's The Chef and the Farmer in Kinston and On the Square in Tarboro but those are too far for a short visit.
Not to be funny...but, Greenville and upscale are two words I have a hard time putting together. Some of the restaurants mentioned above are more expensive than others in town, but, they do not have the atmosphere, location, etc., that I can comfortably relate to the word upscale.
Greenville is nice enough that it has kept me for four years and counting. But, Greenville...is...Greenville...
For example, it has a river, but no lovely "waterfront." It has nicer neighborhoods...Lynndale, for example, but no shops, businesses in those neighborhoods ala Hyde Park in Tampa or South Beach, FL. It has a downtown that has lovely places like Dales, Starlight Cafe, and Winslow's...but, they are next to or near two outdated, frightening clothing stores, a tattoo parlor, and a weird air brushing store. Downtown is full of clubs that the college kids actually wait in line to get in...really?!
a Tavola! Market Cafe - Home I recommend Atavola as a lovely place to go. But, again, it is Greenville, so ignore the Bowling Alley next door and the grocery store it is attached to.
Winslow's Tavern | Facebook Winslow's is another favorite of mine. It is in a nice location downtown near a historic building and church. And, inside, the atmosphere is gorgeous. One of the better in town.
Winslows is nice but tjey don't have true entrees on the menu...it's mostly sandwiches and pastas. The food is good though and the building is fantastic.
I like the Daily Grind on Firetower Road. It isn't upscale, but it's nice and the food is good.
If you want to make a trip to Washington, Pia's is good and it's downtown near the waterfront.
Thanks for all the suggestions guys, from looking at the menus there are quite a few that sound really good, so we'll check them out once we get down there
