We are empty nesters heading down to Sunset Beach in 2 weeks.

Anyone able to tell me if there are choices for electric suppliers or if there is a monopoly in Sunset Beach?

ATMC seems to be inline with what we are paying for cable/internet/phone right now- but, if there is a better/cheaper option, I am all ears.

The place we are moving has a bark park- where can I find the laws regarding dogs playing on the beach?

Are there any farmer's markets or food co-ops within a half hour of Sunset Beach?

Any Billiard Parlors?

Any info would be helpful. I'd also like to hear from other New Englanders who have made the transition ~ We have lived in Clinton, MA, Jaffrey, NH and White River Junction, VT- we are used slower paced 'Main Street' towns.

Default Probably a good place to start

is the town's webpage Town of Sunset Beach*

A major reason we chose Topsail Beach as a place to live is that it is a very dog friendly town. Dogs allowed on the beach on lead during the season, and off lead out of season.

Each of the beach town have separate laws regarding dogs on the beach. Do a google search on each town. Generally most do not allow dogs during the peak season, but allow them in off-season.

Most beach towns do not have enough population to have competiton in electricity. The Brunswick Electric Membership Corporation probably serves Sunset Beach.

I think there is a farmer's market in North Myrtle Beach. You might search the forum on "raw milk", as there was someone looking for it at a farmer's market. Also search the forum on "billiards", as there was someone else looking, and there were a couple. The Chubby Buddha Sports Bar sounds like the closest.

There are a couple of permanant produce stands near Sunset Beach. I don't know if you count them as "farmer's markets". At any rate, there is the Holden Brothers Farm Market on Highway 17 in Shalotte, and it sounds the best. They grow much of their own produce, but supplement it out of season. There is also the Familiez Produce stand in Carolina Shores and Ludlum Produce in Supply.

There's also a farmer's market in Shallotte from April to October: http://www.townofshallotte.org/index.asp?Type=B_BASIC&SEC={40554EE8-A8C0-4505-BCD9-DEBEC59B1BD8}
