Just below the left shoulder of the young lady on this old pitcher is the name of the person who hand painted it: S.BonJ
It is an S though shaped similar to an upside down number 5. The J is followed by 4 unidentifiable marks.
In the series of marks after the J the third one resembles an l (non capital letter L)
Some marks on the bottom but not legible. A number appears to be a 30, 36, or 38.
Thanks.

I'm not a specialist, but I am a collector of German pottery/glassware. This looks to be a lustreware pitcher of German origin with a transferware decal. Probably from around the turn of the century, maybe a bit later. Either this was a utilitarian piece or later than Art Nouveau (1890-1910). Handles from the Art Nouveau period tend to be more ornate.

There's a pitcher similar to yours on Ebay right now, with a different transferware design but the same mold.

Yes that one seems to match ours but ours does not have the emblem on the bottom. Also I did not want to hear the words transferware decal instead of hand painted.
Maybe ours is worth the same $9.99 as the one on Ebay which is disappointing.
