I watched on Fox Sport 1 and one thing I noticed was the main camera was further away from the action than I am used to. Perhaps that was because they were at Baylor, not sure but my eyes are not good enough to enjoy the game from that view point..
OU's offense is shameful. Not as bad as TCU, but terrible nonetheless. Is there a QB whose mind works slower than Blake Bell's?
How can Stoops not have a better QB on campus?
Absolutely correct. Sooner Nation is wondering the same thing. What's worse is the fact that it appears the coaching staff refuses to acknowledge the tremendous drop off with our QB IQ. We should be running the ball period. Bell does not have the sound mind to make throws in a game at game speed. Bell would be an incredible tight end, but unless they plan on running him every down he's no bueno against halfway decent competiton. Even if we get stopped consistently we should stick with the run. Stoops needs to hire a qualified OC, the problem is that Stoops is loyal to a fault and Heupel led us to a NC so he's not going to be fired. Sad, because clearly Mike Stoops had the D ready.........the Sooners were up 5-3 midway through the 2nd against a great offense. They just ran out of steam because offense couldn't score .........,against BAYLOR's defense! What's unacceptable is Baylor was more physical than the Sooners. That should never happen.....but it is occurring more frequently with Bob Stoops at the helm. I can't stand to watch OU lose so badly. That is unacceptable, with the payroll of these coaches and great facilities and even greater tradition it is just flat unacceptable. I believe OU will remain mediocre until we change our style of football.....which probably means the Sooners will be soft until they change conferences, which will be more than a decade from now.
I thought the defense played very well early. Great play by the DL and secondary. I couldn't tell if they slowly lost it or Baylor adjusted.
I have watched OU four times this year. The play calling is just ludicrous. Bell cannot make a quick throw to the flats or to the sideline. Doesn't have either the zip or accuracy. Add his slow thinking and there is a near zero chance of the defender not closing on the ball when it gets somewhere near the WR. OU cannot get 3 years on 3rd and 3. Everyone knows Bell will run and they chew him up.
So I agree with you. Until the QB play improves, change to a power running game. It is not a winning strategy, but it is a lose less badly strategy.
Jameill Showers, the A&M QB that transferred to UTEP, is a far better QB. Stoops should have gone after him.

Yep.
I think most Sooner fans are realistic. We DON'T expect to win every game. What we DO expect is to compete in every game.
Getting blown out is just not acceptable for OU. There's no one to blame except the coaching staff. While it is true that maybe we don't have the athletes that we once had (certainly at QB), we should still be able to compete and stay in 100% of the games we play.
Most of the Sooner teams of the last few years have shown very little heart to fight back when they get down by 2-3 touchdowns. I think OU's mentality has become soft. No one fears us. We used to be the Big Bad Bully and most teams feared our aggressive style. Not any more. It's a philosophical issue. The vision of the team is SOFT. That can't be fixed without A) changing the coaching staff B) going to a different league that requires tougher play. I hope both happen, but I'm not holding my breath as the TV contract with FOX and the Big XII isn't up for revision for another 10 years or so.
Okies are a naturally tough people because of our history and all the stuff we've been through over the years. We're known by our grit and hardwork and tougher than nails mentality. We cannot stand the idea of anything attached to us as SOFT, but that's exactly what OU Football is right now, soft.

Replace Sooner with Longhorn and I think the paragraph would still be true.

Baylor adjusted. In the post-game analysis on Fox Sports 1 they were talking about that in detail. Briles and his staff made the needed changes and it worked.
