What are some of your favorite annual rivalry games to watch? Locally one of the big games is Southern vs Grambling. My family is made up of Army and Navy veterans so Army vs Navy is an annual tradition. Our city’s university isn’t big but the instate rivalry is University of Louisiana Lafayette vs Monroe and they’re both in the same conference.

Southern vs. Grambling for the bands.

Michigan vs. Ohio State is always a must watch.

I've always liked the Apple Cup (Washington vs. Washington State).

Unfortunately, they don't play much anymore which is unfortunate, but BYU vs. Utah maybe one of the best rivalries in the sport.

On the FCS level, South Dakota State and North Dakota State are two of the better teams at the FCS level, so whenever they match up is always a fun game.

At the minor FBS level I've always liked Directional Michigan matchups (Eastern Michigan vs. Western Michigan vs. Central Michigan).

Backyard Brawl (West Virginia vs. Pittsburgh) is always exciting.

I sometimes like these lower ranked rivalry games better because the fans seem to be more engaged.

All good picks.

I think the most underrated rivalry in college football history nowadays is the real "The Game" between Harvard and Yale. Two of the innovators in college football have played 138 times.

The Border War - Colorado State/Wyoming. The schools are 65 miles apart along US-287. The game was first played in 1899. Next year will be the 115th meeting between the schools.

Since 1968 the winner of the game has been awarded the Bronze Boot traveling trophy. It's an actual boot worn by Pueblo native and Adams State grad Captain Daniel J. Romero in Vietnam. Romero was an Army ROTC instructor at CSU between 1967 and 1969.

A few days before the game the ROTC detachment from the visiting school runs the game ball in a shuttle relay to the Colorado/Wyoming border where they hand it off to the home detachment. The home detachment then does the same thing back to their campus. The ROTC squad from last year's winning team guards the trophy during the game.
