What's your 1st B.S. in?
If you studied for a 2nd B.S. would it be in a similar field or different type of field?

I went back to school at age 31 to get my doctorate so I could move up to the college level from teaching HS. Best move I ever did.

Many of my students now are 30, some are 50 and older. It's more and more common for "older" people to attend grad school or undergrad school now.

I had already finished my degree when I saw this quote in Dear Abby or Ann Landers, but it was a real a-ha moment.

Yes, four years from now when you finish college, you'll be 38. But how old will you be in four years if you DON'T finish college? (Hint: you'll still be 38 ..... )

Better to spend those four years doing something productive than to later say, "Gosh, I sure wish I had ....."

Good for you!

I went to school at 29 and by the time I was 36 I had my MS degree. I entered the workforce in my industry during my second year of grad school. My dh will be graduating this coming May at 43 yrs old. He's interviewing at my company next week.

eta: as an aside, I did not work during the school year as an undergrad. I went F/T and then some.

I went for my first Masters at age 30, and my second at age 35. I worked full time. I was overwhelmed, and depressed most of the time, and stuck in a horrible dead end job. Now, I have a much better job, and can support myself very well. I am considering going back for another degree, but just feel sort of burned on school.

It is worth it, in the end. Don't believe all the people who say a college degree is not worth it.

By the way don't be depressed-it's great! My dad used to say "you will be this age no matter if you do it or don't" So you can 38 with a degree or 38 without a degree...

Good Luck!

That's what one of my prof's always used to say as well. He had a buddy that graduated medical school in his 50s. Exciting stuff.

Oh I don't. The only time that is true is if you carry a skill that nobody else has.
I am not a game-programmer like my best friends husband, self taught and one of the best their is. I don't have companies fighting over my tremendous skills . I am just the average Jane and I need my education in order to get anywhere in life.
