Anyone have a positive recommendation for an online general studies or liberal studies BA Completion program? I have pretty much all the units I need, no longer live in the state they were acquired, hoping to count as many as poss units towards BA completion so I can get on with my masters. Have looked at Excelsior, seems expensive.

Thanks!

Do you currently live in California?

Just do a google search. Once you find something interesting do another search to find out about the school itself. It is best to stay away from for-profits stick only with public and private schools.

Here is one I found
Programs Undergraduate Degree Completion Program (UDCP)

I will be graduating this semester with a BA via the Regents Bachelor of Arts program which is available at any state university in West Virginia( Regents Bachelor of Arts | West Virginia University ). It does not specifically an online program, but because there is no major, you can take all of your requirements online if you wish.

In my situation I had an AS degree in a field that I did not want to continue in (Electronics). I want to go into a graduate business school program. I opted for an Area of Emphasis (24 credits) in business classes, and the remaining 44 were filled in with a mixture of IT courses at community college and upper level liberal arts classes (communication, English, Religious Studies classes). All of my WVU coursework (they only require 24 hours to be taken with them) was online.

Regarding costs, about 2/3 of my online classes were billed at an "e-rate" -- which you can see which classes are available at Welcome to the Electronic Campus! . These classes are billed at a flat-rate no matter what your state of residency. None of my business classes were available at this rate, but almost all of my electives were. It goes without saying this saved me a ton of money. The RBA program also allows you to create a portfolio to get credit for documented life experience/career skills (like being a pilot, police officer, RN etc.). But I didn't go this route...but it could also save you money and time.

If I were you, I would research every brick & mortar college you can first before turning to purely online universities. Your degree won't say how you took your classes (and it's rare that your transcript will even show this), and the reputation of the school is key when applying to graduate programs.

I have a friend who transferred to and graduated from University of Phoenix's online program and did very well for himself; however I have heard mixed reviews about U of P from others.
I also have a cousin who just graduated from Thomas Edison University's online program (they are based out of NJ). They were very accepting of classes taken elsewhere. She is also doing well for herself, but she already had the job she had before she graduated. She just wanted to further her education.

I would say it isn't worth it, and they aren't respected. I worked with HR department in finding positions for IT, we throw ITT, UP, etc. degrees in the trash.
Many schools however offer online programs in fields like CS though, and pretty much all community colleges now offer an online AA.
What do you mean, get on with your masters? I highly highly doubt any grad program would take you with an online BA from excelsior/up/te.

I completely disagree. I have a friend who's getting his master's in systems engineering at the University of Arizona. He had gotten his BA through UoP. So there are some programs that will be accepting of online degrees.

However, attempting to attend graduate school during times like these where the competition is fierce will be a formidable task because there are alot of people going back to graduate school.
