If you had a lower undergraduate GPA, but want to go to grad school after does applying as a non mat student eliminate some of the competitive procedures? Also, what are some schools that have lax admission policies? Thanks.

I would think so. Just make sure your GRE scores are high.

To find out which schools have a lenient admission policy, I would need to know what you're looking to study.

Thanks, I am taking them next month.

I'm studying social work.

Normally if there is a strict GPA cutoff, that cutoff is applied at the school level rather than the department level. That can make it difficult to get to enroll in the graduate school as a non-matriculated student. You might be better off enrolling in an associated undergrad college as a post-bac student and upping your GPA that way.

Lots of school's don't even require the GRE for social work. Usually minimum GPA's and personal statements are all that is needed.

Here's just a couple that have no GRE requirement.

Apply to MSW | School of Social Work, University of Washington

These are not fly by night schools either. Having a degree from UW or Rutgers would not hold you back any.

Make sure you are aware of the starting salaries for Social Workers and compare that to how much you might be paying for the degree.
