Hello CG,

Just trying to do some legwork out there. I'm soon to graduate from UT as an Information Systems major. Do any of you guys in the field know if there is an ideal graduate degree for someone with a bachelors in Information Systems? Ideally it would be something that can allow the person to work in a more specialized field that uses knowledge from both the Information Systems degree and the graduate degree.

How about Information Security or Digital Forensics? My son's major and minor are in these fields and he got a job offer last fall (he graduates next month) and that's not uncommon.

wow. that sounds like a decent area to base your graduate degree on. what do you feel the advantages are on getting a full-blown graduate degree versus getting Information Security certifications like some people do?

I don't really know about that. If you can get a similar job offers with just some additional certs, that seems like the way to go. I know my son's school has connections with Federal security agencies and is known in Forensics circles, so those connections helped.
