Just wondering how the federal pell grant works when a student changes school between semesters.
I was awarded the maximum pell grant for the current year. I am finishing up my Fall semester at a local community college, PCC. Thec school I want to change to is literally 0.4 miles away from where I live as oppose to 30 miles. To my understanding, all I have to do is update my fafsa and add that school, but my concern is if they will transfer my pell grant to my new school? Or am I only entitled to receive that full amount at PCC until the new year begins?
You should be able to receive the Pell Grant at another school for the second semester as long as you applied for financial aid by the school's deadline.
The first school approved you for a full year of aid, but the aid for the second semester isn't disbursed until the second semester.
You can change schools. Update your fafsa to new school. It should be listed on the awards letter at your new school, if it isn't go to financial aid dept and they will make sure everything is updated.
