Wow, my degree didn't make the list. I studied anthropology (really, archaeology, but they don't hand out BAs or BSs with that slapped on them). My joke has always been that I could make lead grave digger somewhere very fast, because I learned to dig nice, straight walls.

None of my 3 majors or 2 minors landed on that list. Score! :P

That article was so funny. I loved the pictures! I am also suprised my major didn't make the list. There is not much you can do with a degree in Linguistics.

Hey! Some of those majors do have jobs in their field! Although I admit you need to get PhDs in them so you can be a prof. I guess I should be relieved mine didn't make it either, music performance in piano.

a business degree is no good? I guess because it is too general....
is marketing better?

There are so many jobs that require just any 4 year degree that it really does not matter for many what their degree is in as long as they get it.

I am majoring in political science, not because it is something that is enlightening, its because the career field I want requires a degree in that, economics or some other social sciences but still requires minimum 24 credit hours of political science courses.

I sometimes think it is all one big scam. Businesses and government make the requirement, rather needed or not, and everyone will flock and pay through the nose for college.

Is my school just inexpensive? I am only paying around $5500 a year for tuition, so I don't get where the $100,000 in debt comes from.

There is a huge demand for linguistics. My wife is majoring in that and has been solicited from the gov to attend some language institute in Monteray(sp?) in Cali.

She has so many dang offers for positions that she now has the hiring priority in our family over me due to the money, benefits and other perks that seem to be far better than what I am in line for.

It probably also has to do with what languages she knows, of which are in high demand. She has an offer for a teaching position from the gov also upon graduation.

I must say, I am jealous! I wish I was getting people knocking on my door!
