lmao!!! I guess Tufts students don't have much social etiquette. Can't believe this had to be made a rule.
I agree but unfortunately, there are some people who are either completely clueless of social etiquette, are exhibitionists of sorts, or just don't care.
I remember being in a dorm room of a female friend of mine, watching a movie on her laptop on the top bunk and next thing you know her roommate and her boyfriend were having sex on the bottom bunk. The most insane experience ever. I was speechless.
It's a problem, and not even remotely just at Tufts - I hear about it from kids in colleges all over the country.
Tufts is just the first college to visibly address it.
And the goal is not to actually stop the practice, per se, but to make it easier for the students who object to get it to stop.
Yes, there are plenty of insensitive, selfish folks who would go ahead, even if their roommates had not been consulted first, or who would do it over their roommate's objections - and make the roommate who objected out to be the bad one.

Oh yes! My DDs biggest complaint her freshman year was the roomie that practically had her boyfriend living over, going at it morning, noon, and night. She hated it but felt too intimidated to complain.
I had a roommate in college that would have sex with guys in the room when she thought I was asleep. Unfortunately because she was friends with the RA, nothing was ever done.
But, this happens more than you think. I worked as an RA in college for two years and I had a few conversations with a few different residents about this behavior! Can you imagine having a conversation with someone that you barely know that that they can't have sex in their room when your roommate is present. I had one person that was totally apologetic while another one questioned me on what I had against sex. Those were pretty awkward conversations back then, but now I just laugh.
I don't know, but who the hell would have sex with someone in a tiny dorm with the roommate next to them?
