I just have to admit that I have been laughing at the weather here during my first two weeks. Hail. Daytime temperatures in the 50s in June.

What the hail have I gotten myself into?

I know! It's crazy! I'm coming into town for work and am afraid I will freeze.

Actually, this coming week is looking pretty decent.

I arrived in the springs June 2nd two years ago. The weather was a little on the cool side when I first arrived and put me in a depression but it got better and the summer was perfect. In other places I have lived, summer became too hot to do anything. Here in the springs it was perfect. I kept somewhat of a diary through my Thread "First week in the springs". Read it if you get the chance. It might help. Also welcome!

It does get annoying, but it's not always unbearable. I don't mind the cold as much as I do the wind. At least you can put more clothes on and go outside when it's cold. It's hard to do much outside at all when it's that windy. I'm glad the wind has subsided a bit in the last few weeks. By subsided I mean, not blowing over 30mph every day.

The one thing you can be sure about Colorado is that you can never be sure about the weather, especially Spring season. I just got back to the western slope after visiting my sister who lives south of Larkspur. That last storm system really packed a wallop, especially the hail damage from Elbert County all the way north to Roggen. When I got home yesterday I hit snow in Georgetown and the westbound approach to the tunnel had 4 inches of snow.

Getting back to the Springs, The Elbert County/Peyton/Calhan area can get some wicked weather in no time.

We enjoy an occassional January day in the 60s. The payback for that is the occassional June day in the 50s.

Never, ever, ever pack the sweaters and jackets away for the Summer. Keep them where you can get to them, just in case.

I've lived here for 5 years. The weather here gets old real quick. It's ridiculous sometimes. The unpredictability of it is entertaining at first, then I find it wears on you. Looking forward to moving somewhere more normal
