Maybe I missed it, but searching the forum I didn't see a specific thread about the best places to eat for fish here in the Springs. I don't mean sushi, and really I don't even mean lobster or oyster or clams, etc. I mean where can you get the best tasting fish like salmon or trout or drum or halibut or red, etc.?

Any smoked fish available?

I have been buying fish at Costco. The fresh wild Salmon was excellent. Costco is based in the Pacific Northwest, so they tend to offer some pretty good seafood, which is great to have when living in the middle of the country.

Ditto. Costco has some excellent frozen fish; we especially like the Salmon Burgers by Trident Seafood. Much of the fish Costco sells comes from Alaska or Washington, which is good because I won't eat anything that comes from China which is where a lot of frozen supermarket fish come from.

The Fish Market in Palo Alto is nice. Colorado Springs used to have a place like that, fish grilled over a mesquite charcoal grill, but it went out of business.

Other than Red Lobster I can't think of any fish places here. I think that too few people are willing or able to pay $25 per person for a decent fish dinner.

I usually buy Silverlake Trout fillets at King Soopers and cook them myself.

Costco also has really good fresh tuna which comes in on Thursdays, great on the grill. Also they have really good fresh halibut. Their frozen Mahi Mahi is also really good on the grill

Palapas was perhaps the best fish restaurant you were ever gonna find more than 100 miles from a coastline. Sadly, folks weren't willing to pay for an outstanding meal, and it didn't last very long. Since it's been gone, pickings are pretty slim. The Craftwood will generally have local trout on the menu, but if you're going to Craftwood, you may as well enjoy the deer or elk or bison.

As others have said, your best bet is probably to but a good quality fish, and make it at home. The fish counter at Whole Foods is excellent.
