I am a single 51 year old male looking for a place to move. My kids are grown, so all I have is a dog to take with me. I have lived in the Oklahoma City area for 15 years and am sick of it. I visited C.S. about 4-5 years ago and loved it, so it's on my list of places to go.

I am wondering about the economy and the job market there. I am in the I.T. field, but I don't program. I am more of a system admin/desktop support type.

If someone has some insight into this, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

There are IT jobs here, mainly in defense work, which means a clearance is usually needed and having one will often get you in the door. There are a number of call centers here too, might be decent way to get in the door.

Check the usual job boards, craigslist, newspaper sites.

Also, our member PokerMonkee tells us that the casino's up in Cripple Creek need dealers, will train you, and, IIRC, pay about $15 an hour.

Best of luck to you.

GOod luck with yor search. I attempted to move to cos back in 2005. i too have IT skills [mostly telecom] and had security clearance at the time. I holed up there looking for work for 5 weeks. found absolutly nothing. eventually started running low on cash and had to leave. went to vegas, found work. have plenty of cash if your showing up without a job lined up. i am still trying to get back there, but am looking to buy a business. anyone know of any???

Try using a Recruiting company like Modis. Modis | IT Staffing and Recruiting - Information Technology Jobs

My sister is a recruiter and does a lot of placements in IT even commercial world that doesn't require a clearance.

Progressive is a big one out here that may have positions.
