We will be moving to Colorado from Minnesota soon and are curious what to expect for the cost of utilities, water in particular. We are fairly certain that we will be relocating to Monument. We are a family of four (two adults and two teens) and have been looking at homes around 2500 sq. feet. Thanks

Xeriscape or lawn? Gardening? How often do people shower and how long are they? (Big difference between a girl taking 30 minute showers every day and a son that showers every other day and is out in 10 minutes)

I imagine we will have a small lawn. Minimal gardening. We currently have a well so I really don't know how much water we use on a monthly average. I would estimate that we will have daily showers for 4 (roughly 15 minutes each), 5-7 large loads of laundry per week and a dishwasher run daily. I realize it's hard to pinpoint an amount but I am curious what as to the average monthly water costs. Thanks

We live in the Woodmoor development in Monument. Our water district is Woodmoor Water and Sanitation District No 1. We are a family of 3, have no grass to water and a few flower beds. Our April bill was $130> water use=51, water base=7, RWIF(bond repayment)=45, sewer=26. I'm not sure where you're looking, but I doubt it'll be higher

Wow! That is high! I live in Security and I don't think I've ever paid more than $40/month for water and I do have a yard but not a sprinkler system and I try to be relatively careful with water use.
