I am surprised at the lack of theatre in the area....especially musical theatre. It would seem that with the older demographic, you would be seeing many community theatres in the area. But there are few compared to the amount of people in the area.

It seems like there are plenty of artsy/odd ones but not many doing standard musicals like "Fiddler on the Roof", or "Annie Get Your Gun" or things like that.

What are your thoughts on this?

Check out the high schools - many do musicals each year.

UCCS has their Theaterworks program which is very affordable and quite good.

They kick off the season with a strolling progressive dinner and cocktails tour of three private gardens in the Old North End Neighborhood (ONEN) on the evening of 12 July. The stops will include "performances" by some of the theater people as well. Details are here.

I just got a booklet in the mail from the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center - a number of musicals planned: Mary Poppins, Reefer Madness, Guys and Dolls. Also a number of other interesting non-musical performances. FYI, the flyer I have seems to have more info about the shows than I can find on their website.
