Yes their are but if you google it, you will find radon is a concern all over the US and in places you would not think. You can test for it and get a system that is relatively cheap and takes care of the issue.

So would it be fair to say the west side is slightly more snowy and rainy than the east side? Does north or south matter?

North side gets more snow than south, generally speaking.

North and to the east like Austin Bluffs and Stetson Hills typically get more snow just because the elevation is higher. Although areas around Ft Carson can have strange weather.

What neighborhoods are good on the west side in the foothills? I feel that meets our weather desires more that the east side. We were also looking at monument although I don't think that will be feasible given my husband's line of work (defense).
Well if you move to the Northeast side you are close to Dion's

I'd prefer Alb.'s climate vs. COS, but overall, I'd go for COS as a place to live.

NM has bad statistics for crime and such. Colorado, I feel, is safer and has a better educated population.

Don't let climate be the main consideration of where to live. There are so many other things to consider. I've learned this in my many years.

I like Dion's pizza, I can buy just one slice and get my fix. Place is spotless and the folks are friendly. The one I visit is at Powers and Dublin, with Powers being a main north-south highway on the east side of the area.
