The Springs is nice to visit if you like the outdoors. Garden of the Gods, hiking, horseback riding are all really fun. However I would not nominate the Springs as a top travel destination. I'll nominate Hawaii for that one.

I think for families it is great. It's not Disney World or HI, sure - but it is affordable and pretty safe...and many places to drive to
using it as a home base. Imo.

For people from other parts of the country, the city at the base of the mountains can indeed be a worthwhile experience - those of who live here can easily take it for granted and just see the things we think we don't like, etc.

Colorado Springs has a lot going on for it, especially the mountain scenery and outdoor activities, it's a beautiful place! My son just had a couple of friends visit and we met up at Mo's Diner In Manitou Springs for breakfast and they loved it here in COS! The one friend stayed in Manitou Springs last year. They just spent the night and were on their way out to AZ, so this visit was just passing through, but they all expressed the desire to return!
