I have one that's been dive-bombing me on my porch. Well, he might just be curious....i still have my eyes and all.

Anyone interested in seeing a bunch of hummingbirds without setting up a feeder of your own, make a visit to the Cog Railway Train Station in Manitou. It's generally teeming with hummers.....dozens and dozens. Well worth the trip.

So what attracts hummingbirds to certain parts of the country? We had thousands of them in California. I see some here in Denver and just saw one the other day in our tree that's flowering. But when I lived in the Midwest and Texas, I never saw any.

Well, they are more common in the West, but they definitely live in Texas - maybe you were in an area just a bit too urban or something to notice them much.

Default Birds!

I'm not a big bird watching person or anything, but for only the 2nd time in years, I just saw a Western Tanager fly into a tree on my property.

They're so neat looking ... I'm wondering if any of you have spotted this bird in Colorado Springs? The last time I saw one was years ago, when I was living up in Grand County.

I have tons of them on my property here in Canon City!! They always come around this time of year ( we call it,..."Miller Time")...those pesky millers migrate thru here! They, along with the swallows, dive bomb close to the cars in intersections and parking lots like Walmart to get their fill of the millers! They also fly into my tall windows several times a day!
I think they are beautiful!! I had one that tried to revive a hummingbird that flew into my window. Knocked out the poor little thing and, that tanager nudged it and it flew off!!!! It was pretty cool!!
We have 2 prothontary warblers that come by trying to get in the window for 2 weeks now!!Crazy!! My DH took pics....they look a lot like the tanagers without the orange. I LOVE BIRDS!!!!!
