We found a beautiful house in that district and I saw a post stating to keep away from there. Why is that? Is it that bad? Would like some more info about it...

Thanks

If your kids are elementary age, then there are a couple good schools. But once you hit middle and high schools, get your kids out of the district. The district's reputation= drugs, gangs, low socio-economic, etc..
It is THE district that everyone stays clear of. Mike Myles (superintendent)is trying desperately to help the district get out of the rut but there is only so much you can do with said population. I think just about everyone on here will advise you not to buy...not a good resale value and your don't want your kids attending the schools.

That doesn't sound good at all . I checked the site for sexual offenders and there were 55 registries. That just seems a lot to me. Does anyone have websites where I can get all the other crime information?

Our daughter is still a baby so schools aren't the issue for right now....... BUT crime of course is. It's a beautiful house so I'm disappointed reading this but our safety is more important to us.

I think compared to districts and crime in many areas, Harrison is actually "ok". But compared to the rest of the area here, it is at the bottom. I know students who do just fine and excel all the way through in that district, but people aren't lining up to get into that district - either as employees or students.

I'm trying to find the area on this map. Would it be 66, 67, 68?

My daughter goes to Pikes Peak Elementary in D2, and it really sucks. ALmost none of the kids in her class speak english. I unfortunatley have to live in Pike Peak Park at the moment, but that will hopefully change soon.
Everything you heard is true, the schools and the neighborhood are the worst in the Springs. Do yourself a favor and stay away.
