If so, tell me your opinion about how happy you are, what you miss, and how often you come back to Cali -- to visit family and whatnot.

I have visited Colorado and AZ growing up (grew up in So-Cal) so I've been around the southwest quite a bit. I'm ready to move to a smaller, more relaxed area than the bay area here. I'm also ready to own a home we can afford, rather than paying $1400 a month rent for a 1 bed/1ba apartment.

My boyfriend however was born and raised in SF, and has lived in a few big cities in northern California -- he went to college in Santa Barbara. We live in Fremont now, 200k population, so I'm weening him off the city. He's ready to own a house now and I've been showing him House Hunters to stoke a desire to get a whole house for our current rent prices.

Anyway, I'm really excited about Colorado Springs and I want to know the opinions (of anyone really) but especially of those coming from northern California. I want to know if my big city boy can be happy living with me in a smaller Colorado city-- with snow here and there.

Thanks, I'll take any opinions, help, advice, anything you'll throw my way. Appreciate it!

I did live in SF proper, but I did live near San Jose before moving here and I worked in downtown SF for a time. If Silicon Valley is close enough to count, then perhaps you might find this post interesting...

yes, excellent post, thanks for sharing. i can relate completely -- the 2 years i was in the army taught me that i'd miss the ocean though i very rarely went to the beach.

same with yosemite and definitely tahoe. but, there are places similar to yosemite and tahoe in colorado, so we should be okay there. plus, colorado springs is more populated than fremont, so it shouldn't be a small town shock, and we'll be able to own our own home there. we eat at home something like 29 nights a month anyway, so no biggie there.

whew...thanks, that's very helpful. i'm feeling better and better about this. any more awesome photos?
