Went riding this weekend up to Cripple Creek and back from the Springs on my Gold Wing. I could not believe the amount of lousy motorcycle riders in this area. I was being passed on blind curves, no-passing zones, and the culprits riding were very aggressive. The car in front of me had to slow down to let them pass before an oncoming car killed them. IMO, riders like these give bikers a bad name. No wonder cars aim for us!! I actually honked at several of them to warn them to knock it off. Not to pick on the crotch rocket gang, but the majority of them had those types of bikes. Word of warning, next time this occurs, licenses plates will be logged and reported to the authorities. Heed the warnings on the road or park it. Public roads are not your personal race courses.

I'm a rider as well and noticed the same thing all over. I don't think it's unique to the area. But I do agree......it just seems to be the thing to do with youngsters on their crotch rockets. It's a maturity thing.

I think the high-performance bikes make them think they're better riders than they really are.

I saw a young guy riding down Academy this weekend, sitting straight up, with no hands on the handlebars at all...his arms were crossed in front of him.....idiot. I saw another kid ride a wheelie through an intersection. I see that sort of thing all the time. You're right...they do make all riders look irresponsible, but I think most people do recognize the crotch rocket dorks as the culprits.

There never seems to be a cop around when you need one! All I can do is shake my head. Just more brain matter for the police and firefighters to shovel up later.

Had a crotch rocket guy lose his life up here at Powers and Hwy83 a few months ago, tried to take that last turn at high speed.

Well, Darwin was a pretty smart guy. My friends in medicine don't call them "donorcycles" for nothing.

It is usually kids. Just as dumb on crotch rockets as they are in their "ricers" (Honda Civics, Accords, etc with an annoying coffee can muffler and an erector set spoiler). I drive a 2004 Corvette and I cannot tell you how many times some young punk in a ricer attempts to get me to race him. Apart from the fact that his car does not stand a chance in hell against the 'vette and he is just making himself look foolish, they often do this on busy roads such as Academy, Powers or Woodman. I just wave them on as at 46 I have no intention of participating in this ridiculous act. Kids are just as dumb if not dumber than they ever were.
