Somewhat less serious I suggest you start at the Denver airport and walk to downtown or the other end of the passenger building whichever is closest.

Thanks for all the help guys I was just hoping to go in May before I started work this summer because the only other time I am free is the 4th of July week and I know that's a busy week for anything so I was trying to avoid going that week. If you guys have ideas for other places besides CO I am open for just about anything. I am just looking for a good 3 to 4 day hike. I am from the Omaha area and I only have a week off between school and work so if you guys know of any thing within like 10 hours of Omaha that I could do I would greatly appreciate it.

If you're set on a multi-day hike in May, try the Black Hills in South Dakota or the Ouachita Mountains in SE Oklahoma/Western Arkansas.

Not sure if it's within 10 hours or not, but the east coast mountains will be clear and should be nice weather in May.

Appalachian trail, Tennessee, Virginia, etc..

You're probably looking at belwo 6,000 or 6,500 feet to stay out of snow. But this varies from year to year. Call the Forest Ranger offices for a couple of the National Parks or National Forests and ask them what the conditions are like, and what they might expect in a month. They'll clue you in as to which areas and elevations you might be able to encounter snow-free hiking (if any.) I currently live in California and I do this when I want to go backpacking in the Sierras in the springtime.

This year, the central and southern mountains of New Mexico are likely to be completely snow-free, but the fire danger will be astronomical. The Gila Wilderness and Aldo Leopold Wildnerness are both beautiful and relatively uncrowded, though.
