Colorado Ranch Near Telluride Lists for $67.75 Million
Long used for hunting and cattle grazing, the ranch has been in the same family for decades

The Homewood family bought a ranch near Telluride, Colo., for around $130,000 in the 1940s, long before the Telluride Ski Resort put the area on the map. Now the family is listing the ranch for $67.75 million, according to listing agent Jeff Buerger of Hall and Hall.

Located less than 20 miles from the Telluride Ski Resort, the roughly 2,010-acre property in San Miguel County has long been used for cattle grazing and hunting, said Buerger. “It’s the last, largest piece of deeded land close to Telluride,” he said. Mostly raw land, the ranch has a roughly 2,000-square-foot cabin with two bedrooms built in the 1970s, according to marketing materials.

This is a beautiful property. I wonder if it can be bought with public funds and be converted to a park.

Public funds? $67 MILLION? Hahaha no. Some wealthy celebrity or corporation will buy it, probably sub divide it.

Of course. Unless the town admin is rolling in money and wants to buy to build "affordable housing" for all the workers in town, some REIT will swoop down on it, maybe put up condos or townhomes for rent, and will milk it on behalf of their shareholders.

Notice that the announcement was in the WSJ, of all places. WS as in Wall Street. The owners (and their agent) know exactly who the potential buyers are, and they're not Joe Celebrity or Prince Harry (whose mother used to go skiing there).
