Default Cortez Area, Wine Country

Nice article in Denver paper today about McElmo Creek and environs, near Cortez. Anyone have any perspective on the area?

Thank you.

Thanks for sharing the article Mike. I have been to McElmo Canyon. It is west of Cortez as you are going toward the 4 Corners. There is a creek - McElmo Creek that winds it way through there. It is green down on the valley floor and the mountains are what I would call red high desert mountains with pinons. The canyon is warmer than probably most of Colorado with something like over 320 sunny days and a growing season of over 125 days. The canyon too protects the valley floor. There is a small "inn" that really looks like a house to me but it is an inn located there. I knew there were vineyards but never did know what the wine was or where it went. Nice article.
