I have been searching for the answer to my question but haven't found the specific answer I am looking for, yet. I apologize if I missed it! Here goes...

I am a special education teacher who is planning to move back to Colorado next summer. (I lived in Aspen as a nanny for 2 years about 5 years ago.) I am currently in Kansas and working for a VERY good school district - high standards, highest pay, etc...

My problem:
I have heard good things about Boulder, Highlands Ranch, and Cherry Creek school districts. However, I am single and don't think I would be able to afford to live in those places without spending a large % of my pay on rent.
So, I have a few questions. First, what are considered the premier school districts in northern colorado? (I do not want to live in Denver. I am looking at northern metro/north colorado closer to Loveland/Ft. collins area.) Second, does anybody have information about St. Vrain? I know they were in serious financial trouble when I lived out there before. I haven't heard if they had solved those problems. I would prefer to be in a slightly more rural area such as Firestone/Erie but my first priority is finding a good district.

If there are any teachers out there I would LOVE to hear your opinion!!
(Or if any of you know teachers that you could ask!)

Thank You!!!!

Jefferson County has pretty good schools if you stay south or north and reasonable rents. FT collins and loveland also have good schools but my understanding is their finacial problems are not over.

There are two really good school districts in the Denver Metro area Cherry Creek & Douglas County. Jefferson County is a close third. Jeffco is also the largest. Check out CSAP scores on the state website at http://www.cde.state.co.us/index_home.htm and https://gateway.cde.state.co.us/portal/page?_pageid=33,34440&_dad=portal&_schema=PORTAL (broken link) for job opportunities in education.
