We are headed to Columbia on Friday to house hunt and see our daughter graduate from Basic Training next week. Looking for recommendations for a good steak house in the Columbia area for my husband's Birthday dinner. I see there is a Ruth's Chris - anything else along those lines?

Thanks in advance :-)

Ruth's Chris is good, there is also a Longhorn's in the Vista and a good steak may also be found at Ristorante Divino in the Vista, although it is mainly Italian.

In town you will be hard pressed to find a better steak than at Ruth Chris and Longhorn is a solid choice also. If you are feeling a little more adventurous the best steak in the Midlands is at the Millpond Steakhouse located about 30 minutes outside of Columbia in Boykin SC. If you want to pull off a special evening you might want to give it a try.

Mill Pond Steakhouse

Good luck and enjoy your stay. And give your daughter my thanks.

It is my understanding that Cotton Grill in Lexington has some nice steaks as well. Can't speak from experience though. Ruth Chris is top notch.

It is expensive, but we went to Ruths' Chris for daughter's USC graduation. Everything about the food, service, ambiance was perfect even though the place was PACKED with graduate celebrations.

My family now swears by Arizona's at the Sand Hills Village.
I never made it there though.

Arizona's is quite good. Their original locations stay packed.....I haven't been to the Sandhills location, but I'm sure it stays packed as well.

For a serious steak, I still think Ruth's Chris is hard to beat, though again, it is a chain place like Arizona's.

I plan on being in the Sandhill's area in the next few days and I plan on stopping at Arizona for lunch. That said, I do not see how they can put out a "top line steak" for $14.00 thus I am initially apprehensive.
