Progress on the renovation of the Swift Mill on Sixth Street is becoming visible as workers install large window units in the front wall and erect framing on the second floor.

Workers have stripped the two levels down to the steel supports and wood floors, and framing is progressing on the second floor.
Most of the units are two-bedroom, two-bath and will be in the neighborhood of 2,100 square feet. All the floors are hardwood. Each of the units facing east and west will feature a living room wall consisting almost entirely of a 26-by-14 foot section of windows.

The Swift project is the third mill-to-loft conversion the developer from Albany, GA has undertaken. The first two conversions were in Greenville and Spartanburg in South Carolina.

The Swift Mill project, which is expected to open on Jan. 1, 2013, will feature 22 loft apartments on the second floor and 60,000 square feet of commercial space on the first.
