Hi,

Me and my family are moving to Columbus GA in a few months which we are really look forward to. I am hoping that some of you will be able to help me out with elementary schools. We are thinking about Eagle Ridge and Midland in the zip codes 31909 and 31820, are these two schools considered good schools? Our youngest children are already on the list for Britt David and pending on test scores will go there however are eldest didn't get on the list soon enough. We are looking to rent for the first year with a budget of $1600 pcm will this amount be able to get us a good rental in a safe neighborhood? Is there any other schools or neighborhoods that we should consider?

Thank you in advance for your time and answers.

Yes, excellent choice of schools. Have you considered private? For public those are great. There is another elementary school that is finishing being built in Midland. Can't remember the name though. As for rent, $1600 will get you a nice place. Midland is a great area that's growing fast. Where are you moving from?

Hello, thank you for your reply. We are currently in VA. We are hoping to send our children to private school when they hit middle school age. Are we better off considering private school immediately? Could you give me any private schools to consider? Is North Columbus 31909 a safer area to live than 31820?

Both zips are great areas. I own a rental house in 31909. That area is a little more established than 31820. 31909 is close to major shopping and restaurant areas. 31820 is in a fast growing area called Midland. That's the next hot area to move to since a lot of stuff is moving that way. You can't go wrong with either.

As far as private schools, Brookstone, St. Anne/Pacelli, and St. Luke's are nice. However, they are expensive. 31820 has some good public schools. When are you looking to move?

We moved from Chattanooga, Tn. to the Midland area in June 2011 specifically so our daughter could attend Mathews Elementary. She's very happy there and we're very pleased with the teachers and programs. Additionally, a brand new middle school will open soon off Garrett Road. The school district announced a re-zoning measure recently to ensure the new school is populated properly and to take some of the burden off Midland Middle.
