Patriot Pointe, the city’s new public housing complex for senior citizens, is nearing completion and is already taking leases on its 100 apartments.

The complex replaces the old Chapman Homes housing project at the corner of Fort Benning Road and Chapman Way, and will offer one- and two-bedroom apartments to residents 55 years of age and older.

The complex is part of a two-pronged project that includes the demolition of the Booker T. Washington Apartments at Victory Drive and Veterans Parkway and the building of a new public housing complex on the northern end of that land. The southern end, fronting Victory, Veterans, Fifth Street and Sixth Avenue is planned to be used for commercial development.

I'm so excited for the downtown phase of this project...

These new patriot apartments look good and nice. Im so glad there cleaning up the old booker t washington apartment site it needed it bad. It will make this area look so much nice and will also give the civic center a better gateway and reputation when it's all done.
