Hello, I am moving from NYC to Columbus, GA. Zip code 31907, I believe the neighborhood is Avondale. I am moving with my husband and 1 yo daughter. I'm just wondering how the neighborhood is. Is it safe? Is it friendly? How's the school? How is this area in general?

I'm very familiar with East Columbus (31907). The Avondale neighborhood (31901/06) is not close to 31907 at all.
Like any city, there is good and bad in all parts of town. The neighborhood and street alone at times can significantly impact prices. The East End is made up of primarily "middle class" families. Most of the homes were constructed I would say in the 60s-70s. Roughly speaking, it's bounded by Milgen Road to the north and Buena Vista Road to the south. There are a number of major thru-ways in the area, so getting across town is no problem. As far as schools go, I know there are a number in the area (Public and private), but am not sure on their rankings.
Are you wanting to buy a home or rent a house/apartment? That can help narrow down the area even more.

I've lived in and around 31907 for most of my life, as my parents bought a house there in 1965. Great area, I'm biased, but it is my favorite part of town. Look for something near Edgewood Park, you and your family will very likely love it.
Just my opinion, of course.
