I am looking at a house online that is outside of the 270 belt on the east side. it is on Eagle Head Dr which is near Brendan Woods Metro Park ( A little south of the park) It is not past Hamilton road. It looks like you take Morse road to N hamilton and then a road off of hamilton going west. I had read that anywhere outside of 270 was considered pretty safe, then elsewhere read not in this area. What is the truth?

Also, are the areas on the west inner circle of 270 ok? this would be Clintonville, around Riverside Hospital, olentangy and above it? Looking for houses on the internet is confusing because it sounds like there are pockets of bad areas in many places.

Thanks for your help!

On the west side, most of the areas west of 71 and north of 670 are decent. OSU takes up a lot of that area so there are still some pockets that are bad, but the further west from 71 you get the better.

I don't know about Hamilton and 161. I used to spend time over in that area a lot 10 years or so ago and there were never any issues that I can remember. I would think with New Albany growing so quickly and being such a nice area that it would only get better.

The area you refer to near Morse and Hamilton is typical suburbia and perfectly fine. Lots of newer developments out this way and strip malls, big box stores, etc.

Clintonville and the areas near and north of Riverside are safe as well. These areas, particularly Clintonville, would be older than what you would find on the northeast side near Morse and Hamilton.

That area is safe, I was thinking of getting a condo in that area myself, then decided I did not want to get a condo. Clintonville is a wonderfull area, I live right around that. Just steer clear of the typical student area such as lane ave, 5th ave, summit, indianola.
