If not, organize one and get people talking to each other. It may not be easy, but it would be worth it.
Are they *real* fears and doubts, or fake ones?

Before this thread is hijacked, I'll just let you know I'll be heading in in the early morning hours, certainly before 6am. I just don't want to hit a slowdown because of unexpected lane closures. That would be my biggest fear besides a freeway closed from an accident.

There wont be many people on the freeways that early. You should be fine taking 71 to 670 at that hour.

Yep, Columbus is a very easy city to get around in. If you think it's bad why don't you try Orlando... traffic is horrid.

The doubts and fears are yours. Only you can decide if they are based in real experience or not.

Of course. You basically have one free highway the rest are toll roads. Congestion should be expected when everything is funneled down one artery.

jbcm--I think Matthew Hall was being very serious in his #7 post--so why get bent out-of shape (as you did in your #8 post)? Columbus has a marvelous expressway-system that allows travelers to go from "here-to-there" very quickly and efficiently (as I learned in the 1990s when I routinely transported corrugated boxes from Franklin, Oh. to both Columbus and numerous cities/towns northward). Although your outermost suburbs and exburbs are now challenging this original layout, your transportation-system is nevertheless highly functional, and one to be envied. Smile.

Didn't you just compliment me on my facetious posting? Now here you are telling me I'm all bent ouf of shape (which I wasn't).

I know he was being serious, but in light of his schizophrenic opinions on cities, it's hard to really give him any serious response anymore, even when he makes the random compliment.

As far as Columbus' highways go, they have been good up to this point, but I have been noticing a steady increase in traffic on all of them over the last 5 years especially. I'm not sure if this is because of growth around the city or just more people passing through, but I haven't been the only one to notice this. Our highway system is not going to keep up forever, and we're going to need to get serious on other options eventually. The problem is our d*uchebag governor is in love with the car culture even more than suburbanites.

traffic has been AWFUL (increasing commute by 10 minutes in past month).

670 East seems to be the main issue, for whatever reason. Getting from 670 E to 71 N is damn near impossible lately around 8 AM.

670/71 will be under construction for the next 2 years. Get used to that. And then it shifts south from there, along 71/70 through Downtown.
