I have really never seen you stick up for Cleveland, and at the same time, don't understand why you mention it in a Columbus forum? When there are plenty of areas in Columbus declining in population. Cleveland certainly is doing more than it has in 60 years, and much more than any city in Ohio is.
One more time... The context was in the point that population loss is not any better than high population growth, and that Ohio has cities that prove that population loss is not a net positive in the long run. That's the only reason Cleveland was brought up.

And as far as other posts being positive about Cleveland, if you really haven't seen them, sorry you missed them. If I wanted to drag this tangent out longer, I would look them up myself.

One more time.... I ask AGAIN, what did CLEVELAND have do to with nuns and billboards? If you wanted to pull this tangent out longer, you would have stopped posting about Cleveland a long time ago. I was looking for one specific answer out of it all. Your positive posts on Cleveland must be few and far between because I haven't seen them, and when you bring Cleveland up in a thread like this in COLUMBUS, it is hard to believe you have anything good to say about Cleveland at all.

I don't have a target population, and that's just silly.

If you look at Downtown Cleveland, University Circle, etc, a lot of the recent investment and building there HAS brought in more money along with the growing population. It has helped reverse urban blight and build a vibrancy that hasn't existed in many years. This resurgence has been largely fueled by whites, Asians and Hispanics.

Wow... Sorry, but I am allowed to mention Cleveland outside of the Cleveland forum, and I'm allowed to mention it in discussions when I think there is some relevance. You can do the same with Columbus. Really, go right ahead. BTW, if you're really that interested, I'll find my Cleveland posts and PM them.

It's done already, most of the formerly industrial towns are thoroughly cleansed of so called low skill manufacturing etc. jobs. People who used to do those jobs fill service jobs that cater to relatively wealthy segments of population. Professional pet sitting is the rage of a day. That's the thing about "wealth concentration", as top 10% appropriate bulk of the wealth, bottom 90% elk out a living by catering to the whims of those with bulk of cash. Efforts of entire society are redirected to satisfy those whims, it doesn't really matter that Titanic is sinking and that there are tonnes of more important for survival tasks. Economics 101 is pure suicidal absurd.

No, for a meaningful conversation, we need a target number with accuracy +/- 100 millions at a least. Sure, metro-sexual crowd and overall meaningless jobs they do can be concentrated in a downtown and low wage labor (catering to hipster urban whims) can be concentrated elsewhere, urban blight dwellers can be dumped off somewhere else. So? What does it solve exactly on the scale of Ohio? High end consumption and entertainment cannot fuel our survival (foundation of any economy). Only economy of absurd celebrates casinos and the rest of urban garbage being sold as economic "deliverance".

I never said you couldn't mention Cleveland outside of the Cleveland forum, but time and time again I have asked what Cleveland had to do with this topic. And thanks, glad I have your approval to post about Columbus elsewhere... so looking forward to it!

I'm really not sure why you're trying to pin me down with an argument I didn't make: that Ohio should strive to reach for a magical population number.

As far as the economy goes, I think it's pretty obvious that overall quality of life has gone down for many reasons, one of them being the type of jobs that are readily available now. Though that's not the result of immigration.

Cleveland had nothing to do with the topic of immigration, as well you know by now. It did have relevance to the post I was responding to in this thread, as well you know also. This isn't rocket science.
