My workplace will be in south columbus just outside the outterbelt , trying to keep my commute to 20 minutes. My budget is $750 p/m incl utilities. I would love to cut that down to $650 but I want to make sure my place is nice. Ive considered gahanna and grandview but i think the commut would be upwards of a half hour in traffic. Bexley is another option as well.

I just want a nice 1 bedroom apartment. I'd like to be relatively close to the downtown area as well as close to my work which is in south columbus. Kenny road area is attractive but im not sure about traffic in the mornings.

Living around three creeks metroparks would be attractive as well.

Thanks for the help!

Most areas south of I-70 are not among the most "desirable" parts of Columbus, though there are still nice areas. Grove City is fine for the most part, and Obetz is a safe area -- but there's really nothing there in terms of entertainment, restaurants, and retail. There are some decent apartments in the Groveport (south of 33) and Canal Winchester areas. Groveport Schools stink, but if you don't have children, that's not a problem.

I don't think Grandview would be too bad of a commute. Once you get past downtown, you are doing a "reverse commute" since you are going away from downtown while most of the traffic is heading towards downtown. I lived in that area for 3 years and absolutely love it. Convenient, safe, and while not the cheapest, you can find 1-bedroom apartments in your price range if you are patient.
