Having grown up and lived in Columbus for for my first 25 years, I left my hometown in the mid 70s but started to think about returning for retirement (at least during the warm months), mainly due to most of my family who remain in Columbus. However, due to the awful winters and higher taxes I decided to return to Florida where I lived for 11 years.

I recently came across the Gallup Healthways Well-Being Index which ranks major cities for overall well being and it reinforced my decision. I am retiring to Sarasota, which ranks #1 on the list of 100 places for well being.

Columbus (#93) and several other Ohio cities rank last. Comments?

There's less than 5 points between the very top and the very bottom. Talk about a very selective reading of a pointlessly subjective list. I lived in Florida once... never again.
