No idea if Columbus becomes the largest metro or not. Cities ebb and flow. Right now Columbus is in a good place.

I am pretty sure that whether Columbus becomes largest will not depend upon a symphony, metro park, craft brews or politics (look at the insane growth in Texas and Florida, not exactly the most progressive places). Cities that will boom, or continue to boom, have plenty of good-paying jobs and a steady flow of immigrants. Ohio is lacking in immigration on the whole, but Columbus is the best at drawing them. As of 2021, Franklin County has a foreign-born population of 151,400, Cuyahoga County has a foreign-born population of 95,400, and Hamilton County has a foreign-born population of 48,500.

Columbus metro expected to be over 3 million residents before 2050.

Whether it becomes the largest metro is somewhat irrelevant to this thread. That question has an almost guaranteed answer- yes, it will. The only question is when.

This thread goes on and on not because there is really any doubt about that eventuality, but because a lot of people just don't like that it will grab that title and have now spent years talking about how much they think it sucks or is not a real city using whatever arbitrary and subjective criteria they can make up.

You really are in total denial of the rapid emergence of the CBD Metroplex. This is simply one little anecdote...but Wawa, the iconic East Coast chain is about to open its first Ohio location. Where? Smack dab in the middle of the CBD Metoplex.

In related news, the iconic Dayton grocery store, Dorothy Lane Market, chose to open its 3rd location in Mason.

Shaquille O'Neal's 1st Ohio location? At Austin Landing in the I-75 corridor.

and btw, downtown Dayton's momentum is accelerating.

CBD Metroplex....3.200.000 and growing. Columbus WILL NEVER be as large.

Will never be as large, is a pretty bold statement. Glad to see any part of Ohio growing but a Wawa vs Intel mega fab site......not really seeing your argument holding up.

Well...Wawa has expansion plans for Ohio Kentucky and Indiana...the fact that their first Midwest location will be in Butler County might very well kead to it being a regional logistic hub. Time will tell.

My point is that corporate America is already treating CBD as a unified Metro. That's why IKEA put it's store in West Chester...just like Wawa. Same for Spooky Nook in Hamilton. As great as the Kentucky side of Cincy is, Butler/Warren is the emerging heart of the Metroplex.

Btw, you might be surprised to know that Warren County has a higher percentage of Asian residents than Franklin County. C-bus is not the only place in Ohio attracting immigrants.

And speaking of mega-investments...Hondas new battery plant at Jeffersonville is basically where Dayton/Cincy/CBus meet...71/35

https://www.daytondailynews.com/loca...BWC2RW44RWHYE/

I see investment in that 71/70/75 triangle accelerating.

Delaware County (north metro Columbus) has the state's highest Asian population share - 8.5% in the 2020 census. I think it's fair to say Cincinnati is the second most dynamic metro in Ohio these days, but Columbus is first.

Not that bold of a statement.

Infrastructure is needed to meet these goals, Cincy already has a more robust airport for passengers and cargo. Is Cincy working on other forms of mass transit? Don't know, but we can all be pretty sure Columbus won't be.

We seem to have a case of one metro prematurely tooting its horn for a number they hope to achieve, and another quietly being much bigger already without fanfare.
