Anny, I have to laugh..I looked at your other posts and you trash in every post you write, no matter what the topic..it seems Columubs was just another thing to add to your list of things to bash. What-evah...

To anyone who thinks that folks from Chicago, NY and other larger cities aren't impressed with CBUS, check out this You Tube video with quotes from Newspaper reporters visiting from various big cities..

Also, we just had a representative from the Chamber speak to our recruiting group today and here are the top 5 things transplants say about Columbus (from large cities): 1. I had no idea Columbus had so much to offer 2. My life is so much less stressful now with a short commute and great schools for my kids 3. Who knew that Columbus had 15 Fortune 1000 companies ? 4. Columbus is a hidden "gem 5. I could never go back to a major metro area after living here.

If you can't find enough things to do in Columbus, you simply aren't looking.

There is a bunch to do in Columubs. The Arena district, short north, Polaris area. A little for everyone. We moved here from PA because of the quality of the schools, Olentangy, and the taxes were lower. Granted we are taxed big time for our schools, but we would be paying a bunch more for less.
We love our home and our friends. Ironic, our neighbors and very good friends are former Pittsburghers. We share so many memories of the area.
And we got to know what a Buckeye was Beside a worthless nut We are now Buckeye fans. Love the games. Can't wait to see them in AZ.

GO BUCK'S O-H......IO

Actually, they emailed me back right away saying they were unaware of the potholes and said they'd contact the right individuals to get them filled.

I've lived in 7 states and this is by far the best and most responsive council.

I regret it for a myriad of reasons, but none of them have to do with the way the city is run.

People who move to Columbus from bigger cities usually love it as long as they end up living within a 3 to 5 mile radius of the convention center (excluding OSU campus of course).

That's because, with a few exceptions, most of Columbus's most enjoyable neighborhoods will be in that radius. Vic Village, Short North, Clintonville, German Village, Arena District, Grandview...it's all nearby. It;s also a "walkable" area, which is something Columbus-ites are still getting used to.

Well that would depend upon how one defines "mediocre" wouldn't it? For a lot of people, terrible traffic, a high cost of living, bad public schools and overpriced goods and services make for a pretty "mediocre" experience. yet those standards could be applied to most of the most popular cities in the U.S. If you come to Columbus looking for the Guggenheim or the Smithsonian, you'll likely be disappointed. If you come looking for an enjoyable city with a relaxed lifestyle and lower cost of living, you'll likely be happy in Columbus.

Yeah, expectations can certainly impact one's view of the city.

I came from bigger cities to Columbus, and had realistic expectations about what to find there. I had done the Smithsonian and Franklin Institute stuff, repeatedly, and was ready to move on.

If you seek "big museum" experiences, you can always take a quick trip up to Cleveland or out to Dayton.
