Not at all
Compared to a city, Columbus is very good with balancing personal, home and work. That is one reason people feel it is a good place to raise a family.

People just like to ***** about work.
There are always those who work defines them, but a lot less of those here.

As a personal note, you get a lot further in your career by paying attention to detail and turning out exceptional work that you ever will working long hours. No one ever talks about what a good job the guy who slept at work did. And no one ever regretted not working more on their death bed.

Good to hear!

That is me: "paying attention to detail and turning out exceptional work"

Erg, it might sound kinda arrogant, but that is me.

I work smart and turn around things fast on the 8 hours I am at work.
I take my lunch breaks almost every day, I might skip 2-3 days a month for exceptional circumstances.

My friends call me crazy, but on my last two jobs I brought up the subject of personal quality of life during the interview.

"I am a hard worker and very dependable, but I do not want to be expected to work more than 42 hours a week..."

I got hired both times and with the salary I requested.

Prior to that I as working 60+ hours a week, underestimated, yelled at almost every day and 20k underpaid... absolutelly crazy. I said, no more!

Today i am well respected, paid fairly and overtime... What is that?
No, I do not get any of the employee of the month awards, but I am not left behind on project assignments or promotions. I can live without the $50 gift card, the movie tickets and the plaque.

I do not have any experience or reference up in Columbus, so the Florida ones would have to do.

I am not planning a move due to my job, I love my job. I am planning a move due to cost of living and life style. If I could do my job here from Columbus, that would be heaven!
