Don't be sorry, we always get into these kinds of debates on here
Ok so the ones you want to download are;
Audio, chipset, display, quickllaunch buttons, touchpad, webcam (if you have one), and modem, I think those should take care of everything, if not you can go back and get others after the install.
Thank you Dave for your helpful response!
I didn't want to start any bust ups!!
I really would like to go back to XP, especially as I have just purchased the disks. I don't own W7 and don't really want to go and purchase it. There are some layouts on W7 that I have never liked.
The main reasons I don't suggest people buy XP now, it's done in 2014, no more updates or patches. It's far easier to get a malware infection on XP than Vista or 7. Software support for XP is slowly disappearing, the new version of IE won't work on XP for example.

Don't forget Graphics and Network! Display is a TV-tuner card and modem is just for dial-up. You still need GPU and LAN.
I would grab everything that says "driver" before the reinstall, but chipset and network (or modem if you're dial-up) are all you need to get you back on the internet to download the rest.
EDIT: it looks like the wired LAN network driver is integrated with the chipset driver, and the one labeled Network driver is for the wireless card. just a clarification.

Try reading my list, graphics and display are the same thing, and the network driver is in the Nvidia chipset package.
I did read your list, and you left out Graphics and Network. On the HP site, Graphics and Display are not the same thing (try reading that list?).
Also, if she is on wireless, she will need the driver labeled Network, because that is the wifi driver.
LogicIsYourFriend, thanks for pointing out re the wifi as I do have wifi, so I will add that driver to the list!
