Wow, I guess I am ready to eat crow, but I stand by my previous statements that Apple would have never released an iPad mini with Jobs around.
For those of you who do not know what I am talking about, Apple just announced the iPad mini and it looks like the iPad 3 may be off the shelves (but iPad 2 is still for sale?).
I thought the iPad was a redundant machine, but I was wrong. I mean it's still a redundant device for me, but many people have one and seem to like it.
This iPad mini though will sell like hotcakes, although only because of it's price point.
I would personally buy a Nexus 7 (if I wanted a small tablet) partly because I'm more invested in Google's apps, but also because it's over $100 cheaper.
Apple also released the fourth gen iPad. I usually update my Apple products every other release cycle but nothing really warrants me to upgrade my perfectly-good iPad 2 to the iPad 4. I also don't think I'll be adding the iPad mini to my collection anytime soon...just don't see the point.
I have a Macbook air, an iPad 2, and an iPhone 5 that all communicate wirelessly and effortlessly together. At this point in time, nothing major is wanting me to shell out a few hundred dollars to add the Mini or the iPad 4.
I think they priced it too high, it should have been closer to $250 or so to truly compete with the android tablets. Why should I pay $329 for the mini when I can get the full version for not much more.

I agree with you on this. I also noticed that when Jobs was alive he kept components' prices the same from one model trough the next from the beginning. For example, I paid exactly the same for an original iMac (years ago) as the new one I bought a couple of years ago. The old one had a 17" screen and the new one has a 21" screen plus Intel inside. The price was exactly the same.
If you look at the brand new 21" iMac, it now starts at $1,200.

Yes, Jobs is rolling in his grave 'bout now. He knew that any other configuration of the ipad would dilute the brand taking sales from other Apple products. If anything this a panic move by Apple to blunt the Amazon Fire tablet line. Very unneeded move on Apples part.
