Like I said before, you never mentioned the specifics of how your spreadsheet is laid out so it's difficult to be exact.

Assume in this example:

- Worksheets are named "Sheet1", "Sheet2", etc.
- E9 in each work sheet contains the data you want
- you want to place the formula below in cell A1 of a worksheet

=INDIRECT("'Sheet"&ROWS(A$1:A1)&"'!E9")

Then drag/copy down to how ever many cells you needed it for.

This does work in OpenOffice , so should work in Excel also.

I think the OP wanted to do this across columns, so I tried changing ROWS to COLUMN , and that worked also. You should have the # of sheets you need created first, else you get #REF error, but can create added sheets later also.
