I have bought a new laptop and when I am on the wifi network in my home it seems that my download speed is slower than it should be especially I'd others are also online at the same time! What is the easiest remedy for this do I need a bigger router? Any advice is appreciated!

If the router and laptop are not wireless N buy what it takes to switch. There's a new standard coming out as well that is faster. I'm not sure when it will be available.

This says 802.11ac will be available mid-2013 so perhaps it can be purchased now.

And a quick search says it is.

To begin with you can have all other computers in the house shut down so yours is the only one online then go here and run the test:

Speedtest.net by Ookla - The Global Broadband Speed Test

Then have all the family members bring their systems online and run another test...

Whats the results?

BTW, it would be handy to know the manufacturer and model number of your router, there are only around 1,000 routers and models and all are different.

Oh, and what Internet speed are you paying for? Your ISP?

We don't have

Nor are we
