My folks have an older computer with McAfee Security Suite. If you try to turn on runtime scanning, it will stay on for a minute, and then turn off. I tried to find solutions, but all I could find were threads saying people had the same problem, but there was no known solutions to it, or the solutions were obscure or complex. Not EVERY user has the problem, but a lot do, and I couldn't resolve it.

I've used Norton, AVG and Kaspersky in my life and I like Norton the most.

My folks don't want to remove it because then they'd have to pay for a different AV and they don't use this computer that much. But I know I'll never use McAfee.

I use free Microsoft Security Essentials on all pc's. Works fine and is very low-impact on the pc's.

I've been trying out the free Panda Cloud Antivirus. If you want something that runs light, this is it.
