Is there the reason why my computer prints only first 4 pages of PDF document and then stops showing "error"? It is going on for a while now. I can print only first 4 pages. I have two documents both over 30 pages and it is acting out and continue to print only first 4 pages. And yes, there are plenty of paper in a printer.
I just do not know what to do. Does anyone can help here? If not how to find a computer person who can come to the house to fix it? Thx

Getting a computer person to come to your house is a waste of money. A new printer would cost as much as a service call. $50 Epson Epson Expression Home XP420 SmallinOne Wireless AllInOne Printer Black Expression Home XP-420 - Best Buy

Our crystal balls are broken, what OS version and what PDF printer software are you using?

With this PDF document have you tried to print just Page 5?

It just stops printing and shows ERROR? No additional verbiage?

Do you have a word processor that can edit these files? If you do bring up your WP, open the document and save it in a different format and try printing that...

Can it print, say, a Word doc over 4 pages long?

While waiting for crystal ball answers, especially if it's all printouts or just PDFs, maybe there's an issue with spooling settings. When I print a long PDF document it sometimes takes a while for my computer to prep and process the whole thing before it goes off to the printer. Maybe the OPs computer doesn't have enough space provided for the whole PDF to be prepped for printing? Or maybe the settings are prep-as-it-goes and the computer doesn't know what to do after the 4th page? (Hopefully I've used the correct terminology to make sense.)

My crystal ball seems to be working. This type of thing used to be a common problem with dot matrix printers that had minimal memory. Long documents had to use a spooler that waited for an ACK/NAK or there had to be packeting of the data and insertion of wait times to prevent overloading the printer memory. Based on that, I would suggest deleting and reinstalling the printer with updated drivers.

I agree, probably a lack of memory error. Bad driver, etc.

It's not just old dot matrix printers either. I've seen this a lot with adobe and even Office as of late.

My printer is HP Color LaserJet CP2020 series PCL6. It does print World docs longer than 4 pages, but not PDF. I tried to print only page 5. In "see what is printing" it shows "printing" and nothing prints and in a few minutes status changes to "error". I tried again to print the whole document a different way and now it does not print even first 4 pages.
To answer a question about what OS version and what PDF version - sorry I do not know...
Other suggestions about lack of memory error, bad driver, dot matrix, spooling problem - thank you guys but it is too technical for me and I am not a computer person and will not be able to figure out those things....I saw that a printer needs troubleshooting and I did troubleshoot it but it did not help.
