Computing, on Dual Laptops! (desktop, game, monitors, screens)

I live a very mobile lifestyle now... Before when I had a home I had a custom desktop pc with two 30" DELL 2560 x 1600 monitors. I missed that going to laptops. I was looking for a way to have a "dual screen" laptop, but external portable screens to connect to a laptop were cumbersome or so. Then I thought, "Why not just run TWO laptops?"

-- Like one laptop shows that video training on how to use Access 2016, then the other laptop you use Access 2016!

How many of you use dual laptops? I do!

And then if one laptop breaks down, you always have the other as BACKUP!

a rather exotic use. I can think of a lot more reasons why I would not use your setup, like keeping data in sync.

IMHO, a poor substitute for a two monitor setup, or a second external screen for your laptop.

The main reason is if you go to a public library with 100 MBps wifi you don't typically bring in a 21" monitor screen, - you bring in a 2nd laptop instead. I went to the Berwyn Library with an actual 22" monitor that I had just bought [to test it] and the Library Boss went up to me about that.

So dual laptop mode is for portability of two screens going to public wifi places, not at home where you just plug in a second monitor screen.

I plug the HDMI cord into the laptop.

I agree with BigBear. Exotic is a good word for it.


Just because you CAN do something, doesn't mean you SHOULD. Is it really that hard to ALT - TAB between Access and a video?

Oh, you guys don't understand my situation... I have no home or apt, so I do all of my computing wherever there is a desk.

So every restaurant, mall, or library I go to becomes my office. I want to learn how to use my video game development software, so one laptop will have those Modo 901 training videos being played, while I do Modo 901 on the other laptop.

Two laptops also are more CPU processing power.

You know you can show two things (or more) at the same time on your monitor? You don't even need alt/tab.

I have two laptops, but one is for work. For what you are describing I would just have two windows open.
