Background: Sometime within the last 12 days, my laptop got the point where it said it has experienced permanent battery failure and needs to be replaced. Carrying it in backpack while biking places and not being slower/more careful opening the flip top most likely accounted for the banged-up laptop having a battery failure.

More info:When I got it on Thanksgiving 2014, the invoice receipt said "Dell 1200BJ Cel. N2830"

Condition: The following link is what my laptop would look like out of the box: newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834300683.

My laptop only turns on when plugged into an outlet for recharging. If the computer was in normal working condition, the battery power would be at 90-something percent. The "permanent battery failure" appears when I have the charger plugged in.

The 3rd photo show a series of grilled slats/vents between the recharging jack and the HDMI port. My laptop's current condition has various chips along the sides and thus those slats/vents are missing that covering (you can see inside and there's a white section that normally would not be as visible if those slats. Here's a photo of that condition: imgur.com/gallery/vBZDMcF.

Battery replacement: I saw this E-bay listing for an "OEM Battery XCMRD For Dell Inspiron 14-3421 15-3521 17-3721 40Wh 14.8V 4 Cell": ebay.com/itm/OEM-Battery-XCMRD-For-Dell-Inspiron-14-3421-15-3521-17-3721-40Wh-14-8V-4-Cell/302241427859?epid=704549421&hash=item465efe3193:g: x0UAAOSwFb5aRLfS

The battery listed on E-bay is practically identical to my battery. A notable difference is whereas my batter says "LG Chem 312411" across from that "IC" picture, the E-bay battery has a bunch of Chinese characters listed in the spot that "LG Chem 312411" would have been listed. Another difference is the E-bay battery lists compatibility with Dell Inspiron 15-3521 whereas my laptop is a Dell Inspiron 35-3531.

Question: Is the E-bay 15-3521 battery compatible with a 15-3531 laptop? I know the condition my laptop is in might mean isn't. However, that's less of an expense than buying a new laptop or paying to repair what can be repaired of my laptop.
