I'm hoping someone can help. My husband died there weeks ago and I'm trying to muddle through. I don't know how to use Excel spreadsheets, but I wanted to add a new password to the existing spreadsheet. I've done it before. But now when I enter the new password (it's a whole new line) the capital letter in the password keeps changing back to lower case.

I type in 123456rTl!!

And it changes to 123456rtl!!

No matter how many times I attempt to change it back, the capital T gets saved as a small t

The best I've been able to do is add a comment so when the cursor is in that space it does comment "Capital T." But there's got to be some way to fix this. It's like it has a mind of its own! It does suggest a different password that was used in another line, but I type it over that and it seems to be overriding the suggestion but then when I save it it changes the capital T to lower case. That combo with the lower case was actually used in three lines right above it, so I tried skipping several lines to see if that would stop it from changing the capital T. Any suggestions? I guess I should just be typing passwords into a regular word document, right, since I don't know Excel? There's over 50 passwords. Guess I can retype them into Word---that it doesn't really have to be a spreadsheet.

Duh---I see it is not truly Excel--it's Apache Open Office Calculator...

Open a blank worksheet, copy and paste from old to new, add your password.

Without actually looking at it, that is what I would do.

Thanks, I tried that---and it worked up to a point, but then it started to fill in what I just typed.

I think maybe I will just use a document---all I need to do is keep a couple of lists.

Sorry for your loss. I worry about my wife being in your dilemma if something happens to me. She's not very computer savvy and I handle all the bills and financial stuff electronically.

Is the spreadsheet or list sensitive enough that it needs password protection? If it is, maybe you could keep the file offline on a thumb drive or SD card and not worry about a password.

Thanks, Jonah. I broke down and bought Office/365, but I just find Excel too hard to use so I'm just going to keep the passwords in a list on Word. They don't need to be on a spreadsheet. My husband wouldn't approve, but.......
I joined Geek Squad and they installed the software for me online. I'd recommend it.
